Outline of Research at the Start

離島やへき地といった過疎地等は、不採算地区として多くの場合、公立病院が医療を提供している。不採算地区病院の約80%が経常損失を出しており、その対策として経営指標を中心とした統廃合が行われている。しかしながら、このような経営改善は、地域住民の医療機関へのアクセスを制約し、低所得者や高齢者に健康被害が生じることが報告されており、命に関わる極めて重要な社会的課題である。そこで我々は、わが国の不採算地区病院における経営改善に関する基盤研究として、不採算地区病院を多く抱える島根県に着目し、「不採算地区病院」の経営改善に関する内的・外的要因から不採算関連要因を明らかにする。
