Outline of Research at the Start

加齢による耐糖能の低下に伴い、高齢者糖尿病が増加している。糖尿病患者においては血糖の日内変動が大きいと、認知機能の低下や動脈硬化の進展と関連することが報告されているが、一般住民における血糖変動は研究報告を認めない。今回、我々は高齢の一般住民男性（55～94歳）400名を対象に、現在実施中である認知機能・動脈硬化についての疫学調査に、侵襲性の低い持続血糖モニター検査を導入して、高齢の健常者の血糖変動の実態を明らかとし、1）認知機能との関連、2）MRI画像による脳萎縮との関連、3）動脈硬化性指標（冠動脈や大動脈の石灰化指数）との関連を明らかとする。
