Outline of Research at the Start

欧米を中心に、遺伝子型から髪の毛や瞳、肌の色等を推定するDNAプロファイリングが犯罪捜査に応用されつつある。しかし、日本はほぼ単一民族であるため、このような指標はあまり有効ではない。そこで、日本人に有効なDNAプロファイリングマーカーを探索するため、「一重まぶた・二重まぶた」を決定するSNPを解明する。最終的には、決定されたSNPに基づくPCR増幅キット「Eyelid-plex」を構築し、ソフトウェアを用いて「一重まぶたか？二重まぶたか？」かを誰もが容易に推定できることを目標とする。目標が達成されれば、似顔絵作成の際や、身元不明白骨死体などからの復顔に重要な情報となりうることが期待される。
