我が国は少子高齢化・人口減少を背景に、家族規模の減少と家族の多様化、家族のケアする力の脆弱化が指摘されているが、2000年以降、こどもや若者が家族の一員として介護や養育の役割を担うヤングケアラーの実態が明らかになり、早期に発見し支援につなげることが重要となっている。
本研究は、「ヤングケアラーとその家族の家族レジリエンスを促進する看護ガイドライン」（支援者用・当事者用）を開発し、ケアを担う子どもの権利が守られ、子どもと家族が安心して暮らしを営むことができるようヤングケアラー支援のあり方について指針を示すことである。
