Outline of Research at the Start

加齢性疾患の複雑な病態を理解するために、慢性炎症としてとらえる Inflammaging の概念が提唱された。その基盤として、様々なストレスで誘導される細胞老化は、炎症性物質を過剰分泌する機能の獲得に関与する。申請者はこれまでに、加熱調理した食品に多く含まれる終末糖化産物 (advanced glycation end-products, AGEs)が細胞老化の誘導に関与する細胞内シグナルを増強することを見出した。本研究は、細胞老化に対する AGEs の促進作用とその機序を解明して、加齢性疾患に対する AGEs の関与について科学的根拠を示し、食生活改善に向けた啓蒙活動の普及に貢献する。
