Outline of Research at the Start	中鎖脂肪酸（MCFA）は身近にある脂肪酸であるが、長鎖脂肪酸とは違い迅速に吸収され肝臓で代謝されエネルギーに変換される。さらに多彩な生理活性作用をもち人体の機能に影響を与えることがわかっている。一方で肝臓の線維化はウイルス性肝炎や脂肪肝など様々な肝臓の病気によって引き起こされ肝臓がんのリスク因子になるなど生命予後に影響を与える病態である。我々の検討によりMCFAが肝臓の線維化の改善作用をもつ可能性が示された。しかし詳細なメカニズムは不明である。この研究によってMCFAがもたらす肝線維化改善作用のメカニズムを解明し、抗線維化作用をもつ新しい栄養療法の確立を目指すことが目的である。
