Outline of Research at the Start	慢性炎症は生活習慣病に共通する病態であるが、その原因として近年、細胞老化の関与が明らかになってきた。疾患の予防や治療のためにも、細胞老化を誘導する因子の同定が重要であるが、メカニズムには不明な点が多い。一方、我々は、糖の代謝による副産物として細胞内で形成されるAGEs (advanced glycation end-products) が、細胞内における蛋白質の正常な働きを阻害し、生体内においても、生活習慣病の発症・増悪化に関連することを明らかにしてきた。本研究では、細胞内におけるAGEsの蓄積から生活習慣病の発症までの過程における、細胞老化の関与、およびその進展機序の解明を目指す。
