Outline of Research at the Start

南部アフリカ半乾燥熱帯にあるザンビアでは、降雨変動が大きく食料生産が不安定である。ザンビアでは、特に農村部に暮らす子供の栄養不良が課題であり、微量栄養素欠乏は子供に様々な発育阻害をもたらす。また、ザンビアにおける既存の栄養摂取研究の対象期間は長くとも数ヶ月間で、通年での季節変化や年次変動を捉え切れていない。本研究の目的は、降雨変動の大きいザンビア南部農村において、就学児の食生活理解から、栄養摂取問題を把握し、改善法を検討することである。本研究では、ICTを活用した低負担の調査法・体制を確立することで従来難しかった長期把握を可能にし、食生活における季節や年次の課題を解明し、栄養改善の提言を行う。
