Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、大学図書館という知識基盤の検討を通して、冷戦下に構築され現代まで続く知をめぐる構造を明らかにすることである。1950年代から1970年代までを対象とし（１）アメリカの大学図書館の主要な東南アジアコレクションの成り立ちと、（２）タイにおいて大学図書館や図書館協会などの図書館界がアメリカとの「協働」によってどのように構築されたかの2点を、アメリカとタイの大学図書館アーカイブズや関係者への聞き取り調査などから明らかにする。冷戦下のアメリカによる知的ヘゲモニー構築のプロジェクトが、アメリカと東南アジア双方にどのような長期的影響を及ぼしたかを解明することで、知の相互性や立体性を提示する。
