Outline of Research at the Start

ザンビア農村部の小中規模農家の貧困発生率は総人口に対する貧困割合よりも高く、農業生産性の向上および生業多様化による所得向上が喫緊の課題となっている。そこで本研究では、従来のように食料確保を増収としてだけでとらえるのではなく、「バランスの良い栄養摂取」や「食の嗜好」、「作物の栽培嗜好」を満たす食料安全保障を再考する。そのために、ザンビアの干ばつ常襲地域で作物多様化による「農業生産性の向上」、「所得向上」、「栄養改善」に焦点を当て、食と栄養の改善による食料安全保障に資する栽培作物を導入し、普及の定着を阻害する自然環境・社会経済環境要因を明らかにする。
