Outline of Research at the Start

大航海時代以降、西欧近代が見出した熱帯は、技術移転や介入的な開発を通じて資源化され、消費されてきた。これに対して、当該社会で生活する人びとにとって、他者によって類型化された熱帯なる概念の立ち上げは、自らの生活空間を再認識し、弁別し直すプロセスにもなる。本研究では、ベトナム中南部を対象として、西欧のまなざしが構築した熱帯概念を旧宗主国の地図からビジュアル的に抽出し、また現地社会の人びとや多彩なツーリストがどのように読み替えて観光資源化しているのかを、ヴァナキュラーな風景の生成と捉えて分析することを目的とする。
