Outline of Research at the Start	近年アメリカ統治下における沖縄戦後史に関する研究が進んでいるが、八重山など離島に関するものは少ない。本研究は、戦後八重山の自治の課題とその解決過程について、戦前戦後の地域の女性たちのリーダーであり、石垣市議会議員・幼稚園長を務めてきた宮城文を中心に、女性史・ジェンダー史の視点から検討し、共同体における女性の「協働」の意義および女性リーダーの役割について考察する。
