Outline of Research at the Start

古代インド叙事詩『マハーバーラタ』(以下MBh)は、ヒンドゥー教成立史を知る上で重要な資料である。 MBh研究の出発点はそのテキストであるが、Sukthankar et al による批判校訂版 (以下PCE, 1927-1966)は各地の写本を収集・校合したもので、以後のMBh研究の基盤となっている。しかし、PCE 出版以後もインド各地の文書館で重要な写本群が収集されているにもかかわらず、 PCE以後に発見された写本の文献研究はほぼ止まっている。本研究では、PCE で用いられていない、インド北東部、オリヤ地方、南方部の最古期写本、諸注釈を校合することで、新たな校訂版を作成する。
