１年目は第一の「ジェイムズ・ミルとJ.S.ミルにおける商業観の相違」という論点に集中して研究を行う。2年目は第一の論点に関する研究を下敷きに、第二の論点である「『英領インド史』におけるスコットランド啓蒙思想の影響」について取り扱う。3年目となる最終年度では第三の論点である「『人間精神現象の分析』の観念連合理論に対するスコットランド啓蒙思想の影響」を重点的に研究する。
