本研究課題は、沖縄県出身の芥川賞受賞作家の小説および映画化作品を各作品が作られた当時の社会的文脈に即して分析し、沖縄と日本、アメリカとの関係に対する商業映画メディアの視座を明らかにすることを目指す。戦後沖縄文学の代表的存在として論じられてきたこれらの作家に対する日本本土からの追認が有する政治性に目を向け、彼らの芥川賞受賞作が商業的に映画化されてきたことの同時代的な意味を問う。原作とアダプテーションのテクスト分析を通して翻案者の政治的な立ち位置を明らかにするとともに、原作者のアダプテーションの過程への関与についても調査し、原作とは異なる時代や社会的文脈におけるアダプテーションの意義を追究する。
