Outline of Research at the Start	日本における近世の民俗信仰や芸能について、説話伝承の観点より研究を行う。特に、東海地方や中国・四国地方の行疫神祭祀や神楽に注目し、これらに関わる文献として、祭事の中で読誦される儀礼テキスト（祭文・経典・唱え句・歌）、儀礼次第書、縁起などの調査や分析を行う。この他、近世の祭祀や芸能の実修状況について記された歴史記録、現在の実修状況についても取り上げる。これらの研究を通して、近世の民俗信仰や芸能の伝承文化的特徴を捉え、その中の説話の役割や機能について明らかにする。
