Outline of Research at the Start	本研究計画は、『豊後国風土記』『肥前国風土記』を分析対象として『日本書紀』や国内外の地方誌との比較を行い、地方がどのように位置付けられ朝廷（中央）の示す歴史とどのように関わっているのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。奈良時代において、地方はどのように位置付けられ、どのような役割を担っていたのか。こうした問題を解くためには、国司が編纂した地方誌である風土記の分析が必要不可欠である。対外政策の最前線であった現在の九州地方がどのように記されているのかを分析することで地方誌の記述・編纂のメカニズムを一つのモデルとして提示し、文学・歴史学分野に貢献する。
