Outline of Research at the Start	サイエンス／スペキュラティブ・フィクション（以下「SF」とする）は物語を媒介とした思考実験を通して規範や二項対立を問い直す文化的様式である。本研究ではSF作品におけるジェンダーと人種を、特にアジア人の表象に焦点を当てながら考察する。その際、テクノ・オリエンタリズム論に依拠しながら、アジア人を迫りくる脅威として見る「黄禍」や、翻って性的対象として見る「黄熱」といった人種主義の諸相が、SFにおいて如何に表象されてきたかを批判的に検討する。英米中心的な視点から行われてきた学術的SF研究をトランスカルチュラルな観点から活性化させ、ジェンダー・人種研究における、SFの批判的・生成的な機能を解明する。
