Outline of Research at the Start

対馬は、日本列島と朝鮮半島の間に位置する国境の島であることから、日朝二国間関係史の枠組みのみで研究されることが殆どであった。しかしながら、対馬は近世日朝関係において最も重要なアクターであるだけではなく、東アジア国際秩序の形成においても重要な役割を果たしていた。本研究は、日本と韓国に分割保存されている対馬宗家文書を基本史料にしながら、朝鮮王朝の記録、また明清中国の史料等をも活用して、東アジアにおける対馬の位置を実証的に究明する。この作業を通じて、「対馬をめぐる近世東アジア国際関係」という新しい視角から、今までにない「日本・朝鮮・中国三国関係史」の叙述を目指す。
