Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は18世紀後半から19世紀初頭にかけて運用されたイギリスの産業奨励制度と産業利害関係者との関係およびその相互関係が環境に及ぼした影響を対象とする。具体的には、18世紀後半から19世紀初頭にかけてのイギリスによる北大西洋・南洋捕鯨において政府が実施した奨励金制度が捕鯨関係者に与えた影響、捕鯨関係者による活動・言説が政府による捕鯨奨励制度に与えた影響を検討するとともに、イギリスによる捕鯨奨励制度が捕鯨関係者による活動範囲の拡大・変化にどのような影響を与え、それが大西洋・太平洋の鯨資源にどのような影響を与えたかを明らかにする。
