Outline of Research at the Start

古代ローマでは2世紀後半から、碑文慣習や都市有力者による恵与行為の減少に加え、宗教観や死生観も変化するなど、人々の価値観に変化が生じており、公共空間の景観にもこの変化は可視化されていた。本研究は、3世紀前半に書かれたヘロディアヌスとカッシウス・ディオの歴史書における記念物の描写から、2世紀後半から3世紀前半に生じた公共に対する意識や「記憶」の伝達に対する認識の変化を分析することで、この時期の都市有力者とローマ社会の関係性の変化を明らかにしたい。
