Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、南太平洋メラネシア地域における熱帯雨林伐採の自然的・社会的インパクトについて、文化人類学および生態学的視点から考察するものである。
これまでの社会科学における自然‐人間関係の考察では、しばしば在来知は「文化」的知識と同一視されてきた。しかし、人新世と呼ばれる世界規模の気候変動を背景として、近年では自然そのものの不確定性に着目する新たなアプローチが生まれつつある。本研究はこうした文脈の上に、在来知と科学知をともに不確定な自然と向き合う部分的な知識として捉えることを目指す。
