Outline of Research at the Start

This research project aims to investigate the important aspects of implementing a carbon pricing policy for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. First, I conduct an ex-post empirical analysis of British Columbia's revenue-neutral carbon tax. Second, I conduct an ex-ante numerical simulation analysis of the Japanese carbon tax. Ultimately, the insights of this project will help many jurisdictions, including Japan, to design better and implement a carbon pricing policy for achieving the carbon neutrality goal.
