Outline of Research at the Start

By adopting a mixed approach of quantitative and qualitative methods, this study aims to compare the academics’ societal engagement across Japan, China, and South Korea in terms of conceptualization, motivation, and patterns. This study is expected to identify contextual and institutional factors influencing academics’ societal engagement, and to provide implications for enhancing universities’ social contributions in developed and developing systems.
