Outline of Research at the Start

噴火予測において、時間的な予測と比較し、さらに現状困難であるのが噴火位置の予測である。本研究では、火山体を模擬した粉体に、マグマを模擬した水飴を貫入（注入）する実験を行い、粉体内を上昇した水飴がどこから噴出するか、噴出前に粉体表面の亀裂や変形がどのように起こるかを観察する。粉体表面の地形や粉体の硬さ、水飴の粘り気など、さまざまな条件で実験を行うことで、火山における噴火位置がどのような条件に影響を受けて決定されるかを明らかにする。
