Outline of Research at the Start

小笠原諸島西之島では2013年に発生した溶岩流の噴出による新島形成以降、断続的な噴火活動が続いている。本研究は、これまでの西之島上陸調査で採取された溶岩試料の包括的な物性測定を行い、噴火様式に関連する溶岩・マグマの空隙構造を特徴づける新たな物理モデルを構築する。さらに、構築されたモデルを化学組成などの地球化学データと統合することで、西之島火山の噴火様式を決定づける物理化学モデルに昇華する。
