Outline of Research at the Start

To improve the success of oocyte cryopreservation, I propose using graphene oxide dually functionalized with antioxidant and cryoprotectant molecules (DF-GOs). These enhanced GOs are expected to improve the thermal conductivity during the freezing and thawing stages, serve as ROS capturing agents that will protect the oocytes from oxidative stress damage and prevent the formation of water ice crystals. By using these new materials, it is expected that high quality oocytes will be obtained and the success of ART treatments involving cryopreservation will be significantly increased.
