Outline of Research at the Start	生物の「性」を決定する遺伝子群は近縁群間でさえも全く異なる。これまで、どのような機能を持つ遺伝子が性決定遺伝子としてリクルートされてくるのかという問題について、一部の理論的な研究はあるものの性決定遺伝子の祖先的機能は必ずしも推定されていない。そのため、新たな性決定遺伝子がどのような遺伝子に由来するかの理解は未だ十全ではない。本課題では、昆虫類の性決定遺伝子が無翅昆虫類で性決定以外の機能を果たしているという申請者の発見に基づき、性決定遺伝子の機能レベルでの進化的起源解明に挑む。
