Outline of Research at the Start

睡眠は心身の健康に必要不可欠であり、睡眠障害によって精神疾患や糖尿病、心疾患、アルツハイマー型認知症のリスクを高めることが知られている。その中でも、オレキシン受容体を介したナルコレプシーという症状は日中の過度な眠気や通常起きている時間でも眠気を制御できないものである。さらに、突然の一時的な筋力低下（情動脱力発作）を伴うことがしられており、日本人の有病率は600人に1人と多い。しかしながら、これまでに睡眠障害として知られるナルコレプシーの治療薬は上市されていない。そこでオレキシン受容体サブタイプ選択性と物理化学的性質に着目した創薬を行うことが、ナルコレプシー治療の創薬には必要である。
