Outline of Research at the Start

Recently, various super resolution techniques have been developed. Different from others, without expensive upgrade of microscopies and compromise on imaging speeds, expansion microscopy (ExM) can realize super resolution through physically expansion of samples that are embedded in a swellable hydrogel. This project aims to use ExM and further develop isotropic 10x ExM protocol that ensures preservation of structural features while improving the resolution for ten times. Furthermore, by combining with STED, this project plans to reach a resolution below 10 nm in 3D, both in cells and tissues.
