Outline of Research at the Start	腎代替療法の一つである腹膜透析は、残存腎機能の保持と生命予後の改善という観点から有用な治療法である。しかし長期腹膜透析に伴う腹膜線維化は腹膜透析の継続を妨げる要因となっており、新規の治療法開発が望まれている。我々は、温度、機械刺激、浸透圧、pH、酸化ストレスなど様々な刺激で活性化され、細胞内外の環境センサーとして作用するtransient receptor potential(TRP)チャネルのうちTRPV4が腹膜線維化に伴い発現亢進している事を確認している。以上の背景から本研究ではTRPV4チャネルを標的とした腹膜線維化の新規治療法開発を行う。
