Outline of Research at the Start

シェーグレン症候群(SS:Sjogren’s syndrome)は慢性外分泌腺炎を主徴とする原因不明の自己免疫疾患の一つであり、国の難病に指定されている。本邦の患者数は約68,000人であるが、有効な治療法は未だ未確立であり、根治的治療法の確立が最重要課題である。SSでは、病初期に主要標的臓器である外分泌腺にCD4陽性T細胞をはじめとするリンパ球浸潤が認められ、その慢性炎症が持続することで腺房が破壊され乾燥症状をきたす。本研究の目的は、SSにおいて病初期に外分泌腺へ浸潤するCD4陽性T細胞の表現型と病原性を明らかにし、病原性T細胞を標的とする疾患特異的治療法の開発である。
