Outline of Research at the Start

視神経は網膜神経節細胞（RGC)の軸索から成り、その障害は重篤な視機能障害を来す。これまでに、各種視神経疾患でRGCの構造障害と機能障害の関係性が異なることが分かっているが、病因の違いが網膜構造と視機能障害にどのような差異をもたらすのか、疾患横断的な病態の理解や、基盤となる一元的なデータ収集は進んでいない。本研究では、独自の方法を用いて視神経疾患におけるRGCの構造変化と機能障害の評価を行い、両者の関係性を表すモデルを疾患毎に構築し、疾患横断的にRGC障害の病態解明にせまる。
