Outline of Research at the Start

分層黄斑円孔は黄斑部の網膜が菲薄化して視力が障害される疾患であり、特に高度近視に併発した場合、重篤な視力障害、ひいては社会的失明へと至る危険性の高い難治な疾患である。分層黄斑円孔および関連疾患の形態的な診断基準は近年提唱されたものの、分子生物学的な発症メカニズムが明らかにされておらず、予防および治療法の開発が進んでいない。そこで、本申請ではこれらの因子に着目し、細胞実験、多施設からの大規模データを活用した臨床所見の解析、ヒト検体の解析に至るまで、基礎研究と臨床研究の垣根を無くした多面的な解析を行い、分層黄斑円孔および関連疾患の分子生物学的な病態解明に取り組む。
