Outline of Research at the Start

Few studies have investigated how DEL-1 promotes bone growth and inhibits pro-resorptive activities. Established molecular biology and cell imaging, techniques will be used to show 1) how DEL-1 modulates intracellular Ca2+ signaling, 2) determine if DEL-1 induces EV formation by modulating intracellular Ca2+ signaling in osteoclasts and osteoblasts, and 3) if/how specific EV subpopulations from DEL-1 stimulated cells to promote calcification and bone growth.
