本邦では、無痛分娩を選択する女性がこの10年で3.5倍と増え、研究者は、2019年に無痛分娩と自然分娩に関する意思決定エイドの小冊子を開発し、Web利用を可能とした。
若者が情報を得る方法として、SNSを活用しているが、体験談や口コミが多いため、情報の信頼性については疑問がある。実際に妊娠が確定し、出産する病院を決定するまでの時間も少ないため、希望する分娩方法が叶わない施設を選択している現状があり、妊娠前の若い女性を対象とした意思決定エイドの開発が必要である。
