Outline of Research at the Start	子どもの健康問題の複雑化にともない、幼少年期の運動発達の特徴を検討する研究に、地域社会特有の子育て環境や子どもの生活習慣を踏まえて、包括的に考察する動きが見られる。本研究は、東アフリカの牧畜民マサイの子どもの身体活動の生物学的・文化的特徴を、①個人、②環境、③子育て観の関わり合いから捉え、幼児期と児童期を合わせた幼少年期全体の経時的変化考慮して検討する。研究を遂行する際には、子どもの成長を多側面から検討している諸分野（文化人類学、身体教育学、発達心理学、動物行動学）の手法を融合しておこなう。
