Outline of Research at the Start

学術と政策において、既存の農村の立地は所与のもの、外生的要因と扱われる。しかし、農村の立地は、個人・家計・集団が過去に定住場所を選択した結果であり、本来内生的である。農村の歴史が比較的短く、農村を形成する際の立地選択の余地が豊富な熱帯雨林では、この内生性が顕著かもしれない。熱帯雨林の保全と開発において、貧困民の生計活動（焼畑農業、生物資源利用）の基盤となる農村の立地は、人と自然の接点を構成する。本研究は、ペルー・アマゾンにおいて、農村形成・発展プロセスに関して大規模な農村・家計調査を行い、衛星画像・リモートセンシングデータと結合して、既存研究のスコープにない農村の「立地内生性」を検証する。
