Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は西陣織に無縁、疎遠であった研究者を集結させ、西陣地域に革新をもたらし、研究者のみならず産業の多様な繋がりを生み出す研究である。
テキスタイルは、身に纏い、身体に影響を与えることから、五感（視覚、触覚、聴覚、嗅覚、味覚）を集結の糸口とした。先ず、①西陣織・地域の歴史と現状、伝統産業資産、②デジタルファブリケーションの現状、③五感に関する相互理解などを、テーマとしたセミナー、ワークショップを開催し、異分野の研究者による流動性のあるチームを編成する。
チームごとに、臭いを感知する織物、鳴る織物などの技術融合によるテーマ設定し、新しい西陣織の研究・開発を行う。
