本研究は、地質表層部に記録されている「発掘調査で発見される地震痕跡の分布」と、それに対し地層深部に位置付けられる「地質構造」あるいは「地殻活動」の応答性の解明に向けて、考古学、地質学、土木学、地震学、歴史学の異なる分野、異なるスケールのデータを、土木・建設分野で開発されたCIM（Construction Information Model-ing）技術を適用して一元的に整理し、改めて地質の表層から深部までの構造を捉えようとするものである。
この成果は、社会インフラや重要なリソースに対する災害レジリエンスの向上や、新たな災害低減や防災研究を促進することにつながる。
