Outline of Research at the Start

光合成細菌が行う酸素非発生型の光合成では、光合成反応中心が光エネルギーを高い効率で吸収し、電子の受け渡しの流れを契機として反応が始まります。
本研究では光合成反応中心と集光アンテナ複合体Iの超複合体の結晶をX線自由電レーザーの技術で解析します。これまでの解析技術では捉えることができなかった、光エネルギーを吸収した後の非常に速い立体構造の動きを明らかにすることを目指します。この解析に必要な微小な結晶を得ることに成功しているので、これらの結晶の品質を改善して立体構造解析を行います。
