Outline of Research at the Start	平面内細胞極性（planar cell polarity：PCP）とは、組織を構成する細胞において、特定の分子の非対称局在の向きが、組織平面上の決められた方向に揃う現象である。驚くべきことに、最近、研究代表者らは、ショウジョウバエ背板上皮では、体の前後軸に沿った既知のPCPに加えて、これに直交する「第二のPCP」が存在することを見出した（未発表）。本研究を通して、極性研究の新機軸を提唱することを目指す。
