本研究は、これまで不可能であった1細胞レベルでの多糖鎖を含む網羅的糖鎖解析技術であるシングルセルGlycan-RNAseq解析技術の確立により、口腔組織の形態形成や恒常性の維持における糖鎖の役割の統合的な理解を深化させる。これを応用することで口蓋裂などの歯科領域において治療が困難な難治性の疾患を糖鎖という新しい視点からアプローチすることで新たな診断・治療体系を構築しようという極めて新規性の高い挑戦的な研究である。
