Outline of Research at the Start

これまで無菌とされてきた肺に存在する肺常在微生物叢の様々な慢性呼吸器疾患への寄与に大きな注目が集まっている。本研究では肺の直上に位置する口腔の常在微生物叢および成分が肺微生物叢の形成に及ぼす影響の解明を目指す。COPDをはじめとする肺の生活習慣病への対策は公衆衛生における喫緊の課題であり、口腔常在微生物叢の制御に基づく全く新しい予防・管理法を歯科から提案できればそのインパクトは極めて大きい。
