Outline of Research at the Start

Utilizing combustion for power generation in micro/meso systems is motivated by the fact that stored energy density of hydrogen (H2)/ ammonia (NH3)/ hydrocarbon fuels is greater than those achievable by the current battery technology. Such zero-carbon vector fuels have gained attention as a future fuel due to its renewable nature. The purpose is to develop the detailed chemical kinetic models for carbon free fuels (i.e. H2 and NH3) and their blends with LPG, and to elucidate the detailed flame dynamics using high-fidelity LES and DNS of mesoscale combustion for such mixture fuels.
