本研究は，これまで日本の年輪年代学では対象にされていなかった，年輪数の少ない，特に50層未満の試料について年輪年代測定を実現するとともに，近年提唱されるarcheodendrometryに基づき，歴史的建造物に使用された木材の年代，樹種，形態，来歴，数量，工具などを復元しようとするものである。
