| Outline of Research at the Start |
日本海の形成過程は、日本列島の誕生と深く結びついているが、その詳細はまだ十分に解明されていない。本研究では、日本海下のマントルにおける地震波の伝播速度と異方性を、地震波形データを用いて解析することを目的としている。これにより、日本海の形成時におけるマントル対流の特性を推定し、プレートテクトニクスとの関連性について検討を行う。解析には、日本列島や中国大陸に設置された陸上地震観測点のデータに加え、日本海に設置された海底地震計のデータも活用する予定である。
