| Outline of Research at the Start |
水温と塩分は広塩性魚類の生態を理解するうえで最も重要な環境因子である．しかし，河口沿岸域では水温や塩分が時間的・空間的に劇的に変化するため，そこを広範囲に利用する広塩性魚類について成長・生残などの生物学的特性と水温・塩分などの環境因子の関係性に関する個体レベルの知見は皆無と言ってよい．本研究では，広塩性魚類のエツ属を対象として，その耳石について，Sr/Ca比，Sr同位体比，酸素同位体比という3種の塩分指標と，塩分の影響を受けず水温のみを反映する凝集酸素同位体比を分析することで，個体レベルで生活史を通した水温・塩分の履歴を推定する．
