| Outline of Research at the Start |
海洋環境の変動に対する個体の対応能力と、それに関連する繁殖ホルモン（黄体形成ホルモン、テストステロン、エストラジオール）およびストレスホルモン（コルチコステロン）の役割を解明することである。アラスカ州ミドルトン島で繁殖するミツユビカモメを対象に、観察と操作実験を行う。この個体群は、改修されたレーダー塔で繁殖しており、一方向の窓から営巣個体にアクセスでき、給餌実験も可能である。本研究では、1970年代以降から収集されている繁殖データとリモートセンシングデータ、さらに2年間のホルモンデータを統合し、個体群動態と環境条件の相互作用を解明する。
