カント「永遠平和のために」の再検討を通じて、カントの戦争/平和論の近代的な視点を再検討し、その試みがしばしば批判されるようで観念論的で理想的なものではなく、現実主義的な提案であることを明らかにする。カントの平和論から、現代的で現実的な処方箋を引き出すことを目指す。カントが直面していた時代状況は、永遠平和というよりも、永遠戦争状態とも言うべき現在の世界状況にも似通っていることから、観念的理想にとどまらない、カントの平和論の現代的意義を明らかにする。
